(1977)Beaufort - PoortjieBeaufort West Commonage was listed as Cistecephalus Assemblage Zone in Kitching, 1977 (and was referred previously as Endothiodon Assemblage Zone) before the definition of the Tropidostoma Assemblage Zone (see Rubidge & Keyser, 1995). Posterior works, as Kammerer et al., 2011, identify fossils from this locality as pertaining to the both the Tropidostoma and the Cistecephalus Assemblage Zones.
