Originally thought to be a valid species, but later recognised as being identical to colusite. However, the evidence is contradictory (compare Frank-Kamenetskaya et al., 2002).
Originally described from Lebedinoye Au Deposit (Nezametnyi Mine), Aldan, Aldan Shield, Saha Republic (Sakha Republic; Yakutia), Eastern-Siberian Region, Russia.
