“This is a small cabinet specimen of Aragonite, Chondrodite, Calcite and Diopside from the Long Lake Zinc Mine, Olden Township, Ontario, Canada.
The tailings piles of the Long Lake Zinc Mine is a popular destination for fluorescent mineral collectors, because of the wide variety of minerals and colors that this locality has produced. According to the Mindat page, the locality closed as a source of zinc on New Years Eve, 1974.
In this photograph, taken under short wave UV, the specimen shows several minerals. Aragonite shows a bright blue/ white “Lightning Bolt” effect, Calcite shows a pink/orange response, chondrodite shows a yellow response, and diopside shows a blue-teal response.
This photograph was taken using a 9 watt, 110 volt Way-To-Cool Ultraviolet Lamp.
