3.5 x 2.3 x 1.3 cm. A gem quality, soft steel-blue color "fishtail"-shaped crystal of baryte is aesthetically set atop translucent, pearly, white-to-colorless calcite matrix. The baryte measures 1.5 cm long. The piece was found near Little Fountain Creek in El Paso County, Colorado. This creek is just east of I-25 on the southern end of Colorado Springs. This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. The piece comes with a typed collection label from Wulff that states he personally collected the piece.
