SEM image of plumboan Cerianite-(Ce) precipitations over plates of Muscovite. Cerianite here is wide spread product of alteration of primary monazite-(Ce). All specimens from this point of mineralization are covered by microscopic films of cerianite with significant contents of Pb or Pb and Th. Associating minerals in the specimen (invisible on the picture) are Mossite (Sc, W and W-Sc varieties), Ilmenite, Coronadite, Goethite and Fluorite. Collected by Dean Allum on unspecified pegmatite outcrop of Sent Peters Dome massif of alkaline granites. Pavel M. Kartashov analytical data, collection and photo.

ED spectrum of plumboan Cerianite-(Ce) from St Peters Dome. Note absence of usual "REE comb" on the spectrum - cerium is the single REE here and give 5 distinct peaks. Really we have here superposition of Cerianite (Ce and Pb peaks), Muscovite (Si, Al, K) and goethite (Fe) spectra (Ti,Mn and partially Fe peaks belong to close located massive ilmenite). Composition of this Cerianite, recalculated from the spectrum is (Ce4+0.97Pb4+0.03)1.00O2.00. In another specimen cerianite of composition (Ce4+0.83Nd3+0.06Pb4+0.06Th0.05)1.00O1.97 was found. Collected by Dean Allum on unspecified pegmatite outcrop of Sent Peters Dome massif of alkaline granites. Pavel M. Kartashov analytical data.
