Ref.: The Iron Mines of New Jersey (1910), Bayley:374; NJ State Geol. Annual Rpts.: (1879):60; (1880):108; (1885):103; (1886):144. An iron prospect in magnetite ore located at the eastern base of Copperas Mtn. Started 1874 and closed 1879, restarted 1880, then active 1885. Ore deposit was comprised of two parallel veins. Workings featured a trial shaft and later 4 shafts (1885). Produced only about 50 to 100 tons of ore.
