Old workings located on the north-eastern side of Trevellas Cove. A number of shafts and dumps can be seen on the valley side suggesting workings have taken place on two or three lodes.
Some old workings are also visible in the cliffs forming the north-eastern side of Trevellas Beach.
On the 1870 map of St Agnes Mining District by R Symons, Wheal Ocean appears to have been absorbed into the sett of Blue Hills Mine.
The name Wheal Ocean is shown on the surviving mine plan (R48B dated 1852)
A plan of a mine known as North Blue Hills dated 1889 is held in the Duchy of Cornwall archive (no. 265), however, it is uncertain whether this relates to later developments than those that are shown on the earlier R48B plan or whether it is actually a different mine.
