Location: The site is located approximately 5 miles southwest of Bob Johnson Lake (formerly Big Lake) in the S1/2 sec. 33, T. 31 N., R. 9 W., of the Fairbanks Meridian. The location is accurate within a 1/2-mile radius.
Geology: Maddren (1913, p. 107-108) reported small-scale mining operations dating back to 1901 at this site. Gold recoveries were said to be poor, earning only enough to cover wages. Reed (1938) found no evidence of mining, and local miners reported prospecting efforts had never located payable quantities of gold. Bedrock in the area is mapped as calcareous schist (Brosg
Workings: Explored by several prospect shafts sunk in early 1900s, which apparently failed to find pay.
