Dudnance Mine, South Crofty Mine (South Wheal Crofty), Carn Brea area, Camborne - Redruth - St Day District, Cornwall, England, UK

A small old mine, already active in 1778 and said to have raised cobalt ores. In 1830, the property was included with the East Wheal Crofty sett, from which it was taken over by South Crofty Mine when this was started in 1854. By this time, the Dudnance copper lodes were found to be exhausted and the new workings were concentrated on the southern boundary of the sett. The area is now largely build over.
