The "Murrieta Mystery mine" is not really a mine, but rather a name assigned by local field collectors to market clinozoisite specimens dug from a number of miarolytic cavities in the vicinity of a large series of aplite dykes (about 1 mile long and up to 50 feet wide) at the contact between granodiorite and tonalite intrusions.
