"Island of the Crow" is the smallest and the northernmost island of the Azores archipelago and the northernmost in Macaronesia. Corvo, the Europe’s most isolated island, is the smallest and also the northernmost island of the archipelago of Azores, originated from only one volcano which was active for the last time about two million years ago.

The island extends over c. 7 x 4 km and is dominated to the NW by a caldera with a diameter of 2 km and max height of 300 m.

Ages of the oldest lavas are 1-1.5 Ma with flank eruptions of 80 ka (Genske et al. 2012).
