El Olivo
Palezoic schists overlain by Mesozoic limestone, shale and sandstone, in turn overlain by Tertiary andesite volcanics, with all cut by Mid-Tertiary (?) rhyolite dikes. Broad area (5 x 6 km) of dispersed pyrite with local chalcopyrite. Pyrite has oxidized leaving a large red color anomaly within which zones supergene chalcocite have been drilled. Small mines, and current small open pit, have exploited near-surface oxidized mineralization containing pods of white clay with nodules and crystal clusters of azurite, locally pseudomorphed to malachite.
