Pegmatite veins associated with post tectonic albite adamellite has been mined for beryl. Maps place it about 5 kilometres north of the geographic bluff itself. It is part of the Mungaroona Range Nature Reserve. It is 55 kilometres west of the Great Northern Highway, near Powdar Creek, the bluff forming a significant mountain in the area. It is rugged country, with no clear access points. Can largely be considered a lost locality.
