This unpromising sounding area is accessed via a track 0.5 kilometres before the sharp bend in the Tamami Road, from south-east to south, and its junction with the access track to the Blue Bar mine. The Poverty Mine track heads 1.5 kilometres north until just before a creek gully with several waterholes. The site is marked by the remains of an alluvial wet plant.
The mine comprised several shallow diggings.
