Pico de Ana Ferreira (Ana Ferreira Peak) is a relief with 288 m above the sea level mainly formed by trachyte and mugearite (*). In the area one can observe an impressive columnar disjunction in a place locally known as "Pedreira".
(*) Mugearite (a fine-grained volcaninc rock) is an intermediate rock, more acid than basalt and it has more Na and K in its composition; mugearite in Madeira is mainly composed of oligoclase, pyroxene, sanidine and opaque oxides.
