Powers Mine (Burro Unpatented claims), Kilberg Canyon, Rattlesnake District, Galiuro Mts, Graham Co., Arizona, USA

Latitude: 32°35'34"N
Longitude: 110°20'40"W
A former underground Au-Cu-Ag mine located in sec. 6, T10S, R20E, N-NW of the Long Tom Mine, 1 mile north of the Knothe Mine at the head of Kilberg Canyon and 1.6 miles NNE of Kielberg Peak, on National Forest land. Started about 1908. Owned by the Consolidated Galiuro Gold Mines, Inc. Past Operators include the Powers Gold and Development Co., and the Consolidated Galiuro Gold Mines, Inc.

Mineralization is ore comprised of brecciated, silicified rhyolite with small, scattered bunches of limonite and chrysocolla. The ore zone is 30.48 meters wide, strikes N20W and dips 55SW. Prevailing rock is rhyolite intruded by dikes of andesite porphyry. The deposit occurs within a brecciated zone that strikes about N.20ºW. and dips 55W. Its richest portion, which is 3 to 15 feet wide, occurs near the hanging wall. Ore consists of brecciated, silicified rhyolite with small, scattered bunches of limonite and chrysocolla. Breccia shows considerable sericitization.

Workings include a 325 foot long eastward trending adit with about 100 feet of drifts, plus an 80 foot deep winze with short drifts. Ore assayed at about $7.50 Au/T (period values). A 2-stamp mill (1917) was erected 2 miles north of the mine.

USBM-ABGMT file data shows production from 1932 to 1940. Wilson (1934) reported that prior to 1918, the Powers family and others worked the mine on a small scale and milled some ore with arrastres.
