A former Cr mine located in sec. 31, T23N, R6E, MDM, 7.8 km (4.8 miles) ENE of Big Bar Mountain, in the headwaters area of Rody Creek, on National Forest land. Operated by J. H. Brassell. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Local rocks include Permian marine sedimentary rocks, unit 2 (Northwestern Sierra Nevada) and/or Paleozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 3 (Northwestern Sierra Nevada).
Production information: About 41 tons mined during WWII. Assayed 36.83% Cr2O3 and 12.78% Fe with a Cr:Fe ratio of 1.97:1.
