A Au occurrence/group of claims/prospect located in sec. 16, T6N, R13E, MDM, about 3.35 km WNW of Independence, along Wet Gulch near its confluence with the South Fork Mokelumne River. Prospected from about 1932 to the summer of 1935. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 5,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit in granodiorite. The ore body strikes N. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
A 5-stamp and a 2-stamp mill were erected at the site but later sold.
