A former placer Au occurrence/drift mine located in the E½NW¼ sec. 17, T10N, R12E, MDM, 1.6 km (1.0 mile S of Camino and 2.2 km (1.3 miles) N of Newtown (on the W side of Goose Nest Ravine, E of Sailor Jack Mine). Property comprises 80 acres. Operated intermittently during the period 1930 to 1936. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range) and/or Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with adits and raises.
Gold in the deeper channel varied from 50 cents to several dollars (period values) per cubic yard, mostly in coarse sizes, up to an ounce.
