A former Cu-Ag-Au mine located in sec. 14, T7S, R17E, MDM, 6.0 km (3.7 miles) SSE of Round Hills and 11.4 km (7.1 miles) S of Cathey Valley, on a small hill (White Hill/White Knob ??) (¼ mile S of the White Rock Silica Mine). Operated in 1900 to 1902 & 1916. Operated by James Helm (1943). MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. Reported to be a patented mine but not on county assessor's list in 1954.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. The ore body is 7.62 meters wide. Controls for ore emplacement included a shear zone. Oxide and carbonate ore reach a depth of 100 feet; sulfides occur below that depth. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 45.72 meters and comprised of a 150 foot deep shaft with 175 feet of drifts. There are numerous minor workings.
Production data are found in: Bowen and Gray (1957): 231.
Production information: Several carloads of ore were shipped during the period 1900 - 1902, which yielded 35% Cu. One carload ran 40% Cu. Oxidozed ore carried $1.50 - $2.50 Au/ton (period values) and 3½ ounces Ag/ton.
