A former lode Au-Mn-Fe occurrence/mine located in sec. 20, T1S, R12E, SBM, 3.5 km (2.2 miles) WNW of New Dale, on the western edge of the Pinto Mountains (on the E slope of Humbug Mountain; on Gold Crown Road off Twentynine Palms highway), on private (patented) land. Discovered in 1896. The property is comprised of 7 claims, 2 of which are patented. Principal periods of activity were 1908, 1928-1929 and 1934-1937. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters. There are several locations.

Mineralization is a deposit (Mineral occurrence model information: Model code: 85; USGS model code: 22c; Deposit model name: Polymetallic veins; Mark3 model number: 46) hosted in quartz diorite. The ore body strikes N20W and dips 70-80E at a thickness of 1.83 meters. 3 parallel veins occur 150 feet apart and 4 to 6 feet thick. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).

Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a 70 degree incline on the middle vein to a depth of 350 feet and drifts on the 100 and 200 foot levels, developed on 3 ore shoots 50 to 100 feet long. A 40-ton mill was erected.

Analytical data results: Au values range from $9 to $20 (period values) per ton, averaging $12 (period values) Au/ton.
