Comments:Occurs at station 8-14, 910 level, in limestone and contact rocks. Occurs most abundantly between vesuvianite-diopside rock and blue calcite, frequently extending into each. Brown variety sometimes forms prismatic crystals extending into the blue calcite. Occurs with spurrite and gehlenite at station 14. Gray, vitreous grains, 10 to 20 mm diameter, and crystals of monticellite occur in bands in spurrite-calcite rock near yellow fluorellestadite on the 910 level. The brown variety also occurred here with blue calcite and green clintonite crystals.
Habit:Prismatic. Sometimes exhibiting forms {110} and {111}.
