Brunet set out to trace three ilmenite occurrences mentioned in late 19th-century literature...ridge had once been mined for quartz, and large ilmenite masses could be seen on the old dumps. In 1975-1976...Brunet collected sharp, black, flattened hexagonal ilmenite crystals to 7 .5 cm in matrix of massive quartz
