A small, unsuccessful baryte mine working small brecciated veins in the Triassic New Haven Arkose. It was first operated by the Cheshire Barytes Company from 1866 to about 1872 and then by the Stamford Manufacturing Company from 1873 to 1878. The ore is massive and not of good specimen quality.
In 1992, prior to residential development of the area, the mine was partially excavated so it could be inspected by the state archeologist and properly filled to prevent subsidence. The mine and dumps were obliterated by the development.
