This is a Cubo-octahedral pyrite crystal whch measures 5cm in a matrix of pyrrhotite. The macro shot was taken with an Olympus camera.

Octahedral Pyrite Crystal

This octahedral pyrite crystal which measure 8 inches from tip to tip was found at a Leeds County Mine. It is perhaps one of the largest single "stand alone" crystals of this type to be found. The phto was taken on September 8, 2009. This crystal has been donated to the Canadian Museum Of Nature, Earth Sciences Department. As well,an additional specimen was donated to the Royal Ontario Museum.

Cubic Pyrite

The cubic pyrite crystals which average 5mm, appear in clusters and associated with large octahedral pyrite crystals not shown in the picture. The cubic pyrites from this location predominatly appear as silver in colour due to the cobalt contained in the pyrite at this location.

This quartz crystal is an example of an unusual and rare skeletal quartz crystal. The crystal measures 3 inches in length and is one of the smaller specimens obtained from the collection site. The photo was taken on August 9 / 09.

This is a dark brown tourmaline measuring approximately 1.5cm in length. It was photographed using an Olympus SP-500UZ camera. It was found in a quartz vein containing several tourmaline crystals of varying sizes.

The overall specimen is 3cm in length and contains micro triangular inclusions which are approximately 1cm in size. The inclusion are made of chalcopyrite which show this unusual form. The specimen was found in Storrington Township, Frontenac County of Ontario, Canada.

Specimen is 18 x 8cm and is double terminated. It has further crystal growth running across the midway point of the larger crystal. It was found in a pocket of calcite crystal newly discovered.
