Reflected plane polarized light digital image. It is rare for two extremely bireflectant and pleochroic minerals such as vyalsovite and valleriite to be seen together. Vyalsovite has crimson-red to deep grey (slightly purplish) pleochroism while valleriite is khaki brown to deep grey and takes a rather poor polish compared to vyalsovite. Chalcopyrite is yellow and pyrite is slightly higher reflectance and cream in colour. Magnetite appears fairly neutral grey in this highly colourful assemblage. BM 1993,459
