Sea Wall, Southwest Harbor, Hancock County, Maine, USA

Dimensions: 4 inches x 3 inches
Field of View: 4.4 inches

blue Amazonite in granite bedrock on the beach at seawall park, southwest harbor. the Amazonite deposit shown here is about 4 inches in length. from what I can tell, this deposit and a few others were only recently exposed following a violent storm a few weeks ago, which presumably smashed smaller rocks against the larger granite outcrops and broke some pieces off, exposing new material. I was checking out the same outcrop pretty closely before the storm and only noticed a few much smaller and more weathered bits of Amazonite that were visible on the outcrop. these are far larger and look more fresh.
