(1931): 74. An iron mine in magnetite ore located about 1½ miles (2 km) North of the former Calais. Started before 1868, closed 1873, reopened 1879 & closed 1884, briefly worked 1886. Ore vein was up to 14 feet (over 4 meters) thick. 4 deeper veins to 1,200 feet (400 meters) long. Workings featured a shaft 65 feet (21 meters) deep.
