Granite gneisses and pegmatites of the Late Proterozoic Esmond Igneous Suite. Composition ranges from tonalite to quartz monzonite. Includes gravel pits and former stone quarry on the University of Rhode Island campus. The quarry, located between Memorial Union and Butterfield Hall, was used to construct many of the buildings on campus before it was closed in 1928.
