The Selvik mines consist of two mines, the Black mine and the Wilson mine. Similar mineralizations have also been found in road cuts near the mines. The Wilson mine are the smallest of the two, and the description below are from the Black mine.
The mine consist of an adit, with a 2.5 x 3.5 m cross-section, that reaches a maximum depth of 10 m. The adit is blasted into a 3-4 m wide zone that contains a disordered network of quartz veins. These veins of white quartz contain locally coarse blades of hematite. The veins are hosted by medium-grained, granulite facies, reddish granitic gneisses with embodied noritic gneisses.
