The mine is approximately 10 kilometres north-east of the former Mertondale town site. The location can be accessed by taking faint tracks east from the Leonora-Nambi Road. The site contains a west north-west to east south-east line of shafts. There are many isolated shafts and minor alluvial workings hidden in the scrub for several kilometres surrounding in this area.

Activity at the site was only found across 1934 to 1935 by Luxall Gold Mines NL, who took an option over the Royal Harry and Royal Harry Extended leases totalling 48 acres.

The company was formed in 1920 to take over the Mount Monger Gold Mine, south-east of Kalgoorlie. Things did not work out, and the company went into hibernation but was revived in 1929. It was not until 1934, that it chose its next property, this time at Burbanks, south of Coolgardie. The ground was hard and the values were low, so it was quickly abandoned in favour of the Royal Harry.

Two miners were employed in preparation work. One was engaged sinking a shaft to 100 feet on the Royal Harry Mine, and on the Extended lease there was a shaft to 40 feet, and another miner was costeaning to pick up the reef, where nuggets had been previously found.

Mid 1935, the company announced assay values of 37 ounces at 5 dwt at 50 feet from a sulphide lode, and 25 ounces at 16 dwt from the drives.

15850 shares forfeited for non payment were placed up for auction, but the market was not impressed, and not one bid was received for them.

No further information was found, and it is thought the company packed up its bags soon after. The site along with the many others in the area, may have been the haunt of the occasional prospector over the years.
