The Crayfish Creek prospect is about 2.4 kilometres south of the Nangaroo Mine, which in turn is 1 kilometre east of the Minara station homestead. If the exploration company map is to be believed, the Crayfish prospect is near or now even under tailings from the Murrin Murrin 6 nickel mine.
The Nangaroo, Crayfish Creek and Rio Tinto prospects at the Murrin Murrin display Volcanic Massive Sulphide style geology and mineralisation. The Nangaroo prospect is located on the eastern limb of the Kilkenny Syncline. The Crayfish Creek deposit contains small shoots of Zn rich Fe-Cu sulphides that occur at the same mineralised contact/horizon 2.4 km south of Nangaroo prospect
Base metal mineralisation at Nangaroo, Crayfish Creek and Rio Tinto deposits remain open ended and have not been fully tested. The Crayfish Creek prospect is a complex sequence of felsic tuff, agglomerate, shale, greywacke, rhyolite and andesite, with mineralisation at the top contact of the rhyolite with dacite-andesite.
