Type-locality for the rock type Kersantite.
"This stone, under the Kerzanton hamlet at the edge of the Daoulas river, formed a thick vein of about 10 meters, directed at 60°, which crossed the river to Rosmélec on the other bank. From this vein of the Kerzanton hamlet, which earned the rock its reputation and its name, most of the old Breton sculptures came out. The tide is now entering the old abandoned quarries...
Cambry made this rock known since 1798, well before most authors; he said: "the Kerzanton is a very beautiful black 'granitello', with very fine grain, composed of quartz and hornblende"." (Charles Barrois, 1887).
Kersantite has e.g. been used to construct the porches of the Daoulas and Lampaul-Guimiliau churches.
