Structure: Granodiorite Stock With Assoc. Faults, Fractures.
Alteration: Silicification
Deposit: Vein & breccia fill. Development started on this property in 1912, and continued at intervals on a small scale. The group of claims comprises 400 acres. It is developed mainly by a 700-foot crosscut tunnel and shaft. The mine is about 2 miles from the granodiorite contact. The first 200 feet of the tunnel is in tertiary lake beds (which overlay the paleozoic rocks on the lower slopes), and the next 500 feet in a breccia of dark-brown paleozoic limestone and quartzite, which becomes more siliceous toward the face. Also, near the face the tunnel intersects a 20-foot porphyry dike. At 40 feet from the face of the tunnel occurs a 2 1/2 foot quartz vein dipping 40 W toward the portal. It carries a little gold and silver. At various points there are other streaks with a little pbco3 and copper stain and some small pockets yielding good specimens of quartz, malachite, and copper oxide. Several tons of ore on the dump averages 20% cu and 20 oz/ton ag. At the shaft there is said to be a 4 foot vein. (schrader, 1935, p 38-9) ; info.src : 1 pub lit
