Deposit: The polar star group of 8 claims (hill, 1916) was located march 15, 1912 by t.j. Franks, m.e. Reed, and b. Woolverton, the zinc ore bodies are irregular replacement deposits in brecciated paleozoic limestones in a shear zone (3 faults) that strike e., and dip 50-60 s; the area is 120 ft wide x 350 ft long. The mine was developed by an incline shaft to water level at 60 ft, and by large stopes. Lead and zinc were mined but the zinc was the main ore recovered. Production began in 1912 end in 1943. 1946 was the largest production year. In all more than $100,000 total produced. Mineral survey 4411, consisting of morning star, polar star, nevada star, elko comet, clover nos. 1 to 8 incl. ; info.src : 1 pub lit zinc ore bodies are irregular replacement deposits in brecciated limestones in a shear zone of 3 faults
