Deposit: A clay bed comformable to the shale sequence at this prospect is exposed in area about 30 ft square, about 6 feet thick. Crosscutting relationships of body and a thin zone of hydrated iron oxide at the contact suggests a hydrothermal origin. The montmorillonite is fine-grained, semi-compact and has a better than average swelling ability.
