A former lode Au-Ag mine located in sec. 19, T3S, R17E, MDM, 1.6 km (5,400 feet) SW of Buckhorn Peak (coordinates of record), on the divide between Scotch Gulch and Flyaway Gulch (6 miles SE of Coulterville; adjoins the Flyaway group of mines on the NW). Produced in 1935. Operated by Walter McLean. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.

Mineralization is a quartz vein deposit hosted in greenstone and serpentinite. The ore body strikes N60W and dips 50NE. Gold occurs in pockets, and in sulfide impregnated serpentine. The quartz vein occurs at the contact of greenstone (NE) and serpentine (SW). Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings comprised of a 133 foot inclined shaft, 355 feet of drifts, a 300 foot crosscut tunnel and 2 stopes (1914).

Production data are found in: Bowen, O.E., Jr. & C.H. Gray, Jr. (1957); and in Wallace, R. E. (1957).

During 1935 about 480 tons of ore yielded 85.48 ounces of Au. Worked by hand methods. Au & Ag recovered by amalgamation in 1954.
