A former lode Au-Pb-Cu occurrence/mine located in secs. 21, 22, 27, 28 & 33, T18N, R11E, MDM, about 5 km S of Graniteville, on Gaston Ridge and SSW of Old Condon Mill, on private (patented) land within a National Forest area. The property is comprised of 148.12 acres. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Calaveras Complex (Blue CAnyon slate, granite). The ore body strikes N20-35W and dips 40-60E at a thickness of 3.05 meters. At the granite-Blue Canyon contact the footwall is slate and the hanging wall is granite. The veins are 2 to 10 feet thick (Gaston vein) The GAmbrinus is 4 to 6 feet thick, strikes N20E and dips 70E. There are several other veins on the property. Local alteration includes alteration & silicification of the granite. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 1,486.2 meters and an overall depth of 579.12 meters. The workings are extensive and include stopes, etc. Stoped for a width of 50 to 75 feet.
Production data are found in: Logan, Clarence August (1930).
Production statistics: Year: 1929 (period = 1928-1929) (estimated): 8 grams Au/metric ton. Ore varied from $2 to $50 (period values) Au/ton, averaging $10 Au/ton.
