A former lode Au-Ag occurrence/mine located in sec. 2 & in the NE¼ (estimated) sec. 11, T17N, R11E, MDM, about 4.8 km ENE of Omega, along the South Yuba River, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in granodiorite and slate. The ore body strikes N and dips 60E at a thickness of 1.22 meters (Central and Gray Eagle group). The ore body strikes N and dips 55-70E at a thickness of 4.57 meters (Yuba Consolidated). The veins occur in a shear zone of granodiorite. Most work was done near a point where the vein is cut by a 4 foot dike. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 4 (Klamath Mountains and Northern Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 487.68 meters and an overall depth of 243.84 meters and comprised of several shallow shafts, tunnels, adits and drifts.
Production data are found in: MacBoyle, Errol (1919).
It was claimed that former owners produced an estimated $2,000,000 (period values) prior to 1918. The estimated yield from the Yuba vein was $200,000 (period values) from later workings.
