A former Hg occurrence/mine located 2.3 km (1.4 miles) W of New Almaden (W of Randol shaft; located on the St. George shaft), on county owned land (Almaden Quicksilver County Park). Discovered in 1871. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.

Mineralization is hosted in Late Cretaceous serpentinite and sedimentary rocks. The ore body is irregular, strikes E and dips 55N. Controls for ore emplacement included local fractures trending N. Local alteration includes silica carbonate alteration of serpentine. Local rocks include rocks of the Franciscan Complex, unit 1 (Coast Ranges).

Local structures include a serpentine-sediment contact.
