A former lode Au occurrence/prospect/mine located in sec. 7, T19N, R12E, MDM, about 5.3 km S of Loganville, along a S-flowing tributary of the Middle Yuba River, W of the "Gates of the Antipodes," (3 miles SW of Sierra City), on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate and porphyry. The ore body strikes N and dips 25W. The vein is 3 feet (0.91 meter) thick with a slate footwall and porphyry hanging wall. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada) and/or Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
Workings include underground openings comprised of several adits. One adit is 125 feet long with a 20 foot crosscut.
Long inactive mine. No production record was found.
