A former lode Au mine located in sec. 34, T32N, R6W, MDM (coordinates accurate; section projected), 3.4 km (2.1 miles) WSW of Shasta, on National Park Service land (Whiskeytown-Shasta-Trinity National Recreation Area). Located 1897. The property consisted of 3 claims. Active until 1905 and 1911 to 1913. The MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in meta-rhyolite. The ore body strikes N40W and dips 40 to 50SW at a thickness of 1.52 meters. The deposit consists of 2 parallel veins 50 feet apart. The footwall is quartz diorite and the hanging wall is meta-rhyolite. White quartz carries gold and pyrite in a dike of sheared alaskite within the quartz diorite. The ore shoot is low grade. Associated rocks include diorite. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 4 (Klamath Mountains and Northern Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 660 foot shaft with 7 levels and a short crosscut at its base plus several short adits. The ore shoot is 400 x 12 feet.
Production data are found in: Averill, C.V. (1933). Production record from smelter shipment; additional production from stamp mill returns not recorded.
