Wellcome to my Mindat Home Page.

I am a Spanish chemist, astrobiologist and mineralogist with a long term passion for the microscopy and spectroscopy of minerals.

In my personal page, you will find pictures of minerals through the microscope. Actually, I do not enjoy much the photography as an art and technique, but, as a microscope enthusiast, I try to conjugate aesthetics and documentation of specimens through the microscope.
Apart of the electron microscope images (SEM is one of my favorite techniques) and old pictures, all micrographs were taken using a Zeiss Discovery stereomicroscope. I do not like a lot of photography manipulation/photoshop, as I see mineral photography more as a part of scientific documentation of Natural Science specimens, so in my pictures try to show, with the limitations derived from my humble instrumentation, what it can be seen in the actual sample.

I am trying to share my results on samples that arrive to my laboratory that are interesting or beautiful (I am working on spectroscopy applications to mineralogy and other fields)

Any question regarding Science or mineralogy, please write me to cesar.menor at uah.es

Sorry, I do not swap or sell minerals.

Hope you find interesting my observations!
