Bastnäsite-(Ce) (bright lamellae) syntactically intergrown with synchysite-(Ce) (grey lamellae), intergrown with allanite-(Ce) (grey, zoned; in central area), with muscovite laths (dark, top left), chamosite (dark grey, left) and pyrite (right, grey). The two REE carbonates seemingly originated due to hydrothermal alteration of allanite-(Ce). SEM micrograph (BSE mode) of a polished section of a contact zone between a granodioritic dyke and marble. This sample was briefly described in: Rieck, B., Kolitsch, U., Voudouris, P., Giester, G., and Tzeferis, P. (2018) Weitere Neufunde aus Lavrion, Griechenland. Mineralien-Welt, 29(5), 32-77 (in German).

Bastnäsite-(Ce) (grey lamellae) syntactically intergrown with synchysite-(Ce) (darker grey lamellae), intergrown with allanite-(Ce) (dark grey, zoned; in central area), with muscovite laths (dark, top left, soft), chamosite (dark grey, left) and pyrite (right, grey, hard). The two REE carbonates seemingly originated due to hydrothermal alteration of allanite-(Ce). SEM micrograph (SE mode) of a polished section of a contact zone between a granodioritic dyke and marble.
