A salt-gypsum-anhydrite deposit located 1.1 km (0.7 mile) SE of Grand Saline center. Discovered in 1888 by the Grand Saline Salt Company. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. Salt was intersected in a brine well in 1888. Brines recognized as early as 1845.

Mineralization is a salt dome deposit (Mineral occurrence model information: Model code: 252; USGS model code: 35a.4 (35ad); Deposit model name: Salt domes: diapiric salt structures), hosted in the Middle Jurassic Louann Salt. The ore body is 6,096 meters thick, 2,413.95 meters wide, 2,574 meters long with a depth-to-bottom of 6,096 meters and a depth-to-top of 64.92 meters. The caprock is 5 to 61 feet thick. The depth to caprock is 171 feet, and to the salt it is 213 feet. The salt volume was calculated at 7.6 cubic miles to 10,560 feet of depth. The depth to the top of the Louann Salt is about 20,000 feet. The salt dome covers an area of 2.1 square miles. The youngest strata affected by salt intrusion are rocks of the Woodbine Group. Local rocks include rocks of the Wilcox Group, undivided.

Local geologic structures include a piercement salt dome.
