Dumfriesshire

Amethyst pocket called Height's Lodge Pocket found by John and Robert Lawson in January 2009 from high up the hill, a few hundred metres from the summit. The material occurs in a brecciated zone with drusy white, purple and rarely smoky quartz. The reverses of the specimens show rhombohedral epimorphs after dolomite.

Nearer the base of the hill, molybdenite occurs beside a forest track, next to the stream at grid ref. NX 7971 5457. A car park at NX 7997 5471 is convenient for accessing this latter site.
