One of a series of small silver-lead Mines following along a small fault line running parallel to the coast. The fault separates beds of Kanmantoo group rocks and Normanville group rocks, both of the Cambrian era.

SARIG Record Card states:
"Barritt's Mine developed in 1861 on a gossan carrying silver-lead mineralisation. 132 tonnes of ore were raised by 1869. Host was claystone and limestone of the Fork Tree Limestone.
Commodities: Lead, Silver"

According to Drexel, this mine operated between 1862 to 1865 and then form 1869 to 1873. It was sold in 1865 and worked as the Carrickalinga Silver Mine. It was sold again in 1869 and operated as Wheal Mary.

There were four shafts and the deepest being 120 feet.
It was reported that some boulders of pure Galena weighed around 2cwt each.
