History:
It was staked in 1915 by Mr. E.D.G. Pidgeon, of Wabigoon. Beyond a little assessment work which yielded about 200 pounds of high grade samples, no further development was done. Oro Plata Mining Corporation Limited in 1939 investigated the showing. A number of trenches 15 to 20 feet apart were excavated and a series of 25- foot samples taken. Assays of 24 of these returned only nils and traces of molybdenum. A bulk sample from a pit on the original find is reported to have averaged 1.48% molybdenum. The property at that time consisted of a group of 11 claims.
Geology:
A 30 m long, 3 to 4 m wide quartz vein containing minor amounts of feldspar and striking northwest within dioritic rocks hosts molybdenum mineralization. The vein contains lesser amounts of chlorite, orthoclase, bismuthinite, green and bronze coloured mica, and pyrite. The molybdenum is confined to a all portion of the vein and was not observed in the country rocks. The diorite occurs at the contact between granitic rocks of the Atikwa Batholith and mafic metavolcanics of the Superior Structural Province.
