The prospect sits at the apex of the triangular greenstone area, which encompasses the Sandstone district.
The prospect is covered by extensive transported alluvium. It was explored by Western Mining Corporation with 206 RAB drill holes along a 800 x 100 metre traverse.
They found pyritic black shale with minor quartz veining, and a narrow sequence of foliated basalt, minor ultramafics, and felsic lithologies.
The nearby 18 Mile Well prospect, weak gold anomalies were found in quartz stringers in black shale. This was intercalated with banded iron formation and chert, the latter rock abundant in this northern portion of the greenstone belt where it occupies the core of the north plunging regional syncline. Mineralisation in the area is related to axial planar faulting, but little gold was found as part of the exploration exercise.
