GML 230. 12 acres. The centre of the lease is traversed by a laminated quartz reef. The un-named original prospectors found good coarse gold outcropping on a steep hill side. On the summit of the hill was a very rich small alluvial patch, covering a few feet square, under which was thin irregular quartz veins, probably the remains of a larger reef.
The shaft was sunk to a depth of 44 feet, and a tunnel into the side of the hill also for 44 feet, then cross cut for 21 feet. A second tunnel was driven into the hill 160 feet further to the south.
The General Gordon mine is at the southern end of the goldfield. A track heads south of the Abydos/Woodstock- Hillside Road, about three kilometres east of where it crosses the Tambourah Creek. This track wends south about ten kilometres through hills, until what appears to be a prospectors camp is reached. Another prospectors camp is about one kilometre to the east. The lease is likely active and off limits.
